Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Funeral services for George M. Bacon Sr. were held from the Mahar and Son Funeral Home Monday morning with the Rev. Arthur Kingdon, rector of Saint Peters Episcopal Church, officiating.

Musical selections offered during the service were “Daddy’s Hands,” “This Is My Father’s World,” and “Danny Boy.” Words of remembrance were offered by Kimberly Krizan.

Bearers were four grandsons, Mike Krizan Jr., Greg Krizan, Mike Krizan, Mike Higgins, Steve Gorman Sr., a great grandson, Steve Gorman Jr., and a friend, Don Howard.

The burial with full military honors took place in the family lot in the George B.H. Solomon National Cemetery, Saratoga, N.Y. with the Rev. John Kettlewell, rector of Saint Stephen’s Church, Schuylerville, N.Y. officiating. The flag was folded and presented to Mr. Bacon’s wife Lorraine. A reception for family and friends followed the service at the North Hoosick Fire House.

Sunday evening members of the Moose Lodge 1233, VFW Post 1332, American Legion Post 13 and Mount Anthony Lodge 13 F & AM conducted their services. Also attending the service were several members of the Bennington Club and AARP.

George M. Bacon Sr., 81, a resident of Route 67, North Hoosick, N.Y. died Wednesday, June 25, 2003 at his residence following a long illness.
