George McCloskey MANCHESTER, VT George Bernard McCloskey, 63, formerly of Long Valley, N.J., died on June 2, 2009 in Washington, DC. Born in Long Island and raised in Brooklyn, George made his home in Manchester, Vt., and New Jersey. After graduating from St. John's University in New York he spent 35 years as a pension actuary and administrator. He was a published author in the Infinite Writer June 2009. George was also a journalist for the Washington Township Observer Tribune and has made written contributions to the Manchester Journal and Bennington Banner. He was often a political pundit quoted in the Press of Atlantic City, Philadelphia Inquirer, New York Times and Asbury Park Press. He served as a volunteer for the United Way of Morris County and he was also a member of the Washington Township Board of Education. He leaves his wife, Fionula, his six children, Shannon, Roger, Michelle, Kerri, Heather and Ryan McCloskey, two grandchildren, Brendan and Aaisha. In addition he also leaves his sister, Maureen Broderick and brothers, Francis and James McCloskey. FUNERAL NOTICE: Visitation will be held on Tuesday June 9, 2009 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at St. Luke's Parish 265 West Mill Road Long Valley, NJ. The funeral mass will be held on Wednesday June 10, 2009 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church 398 Bonnet St. Manchester Center, VT 05255. Burial will follow in St. Jerome's Cemetery East Dorset, VT. BREWSTER FUNERAL SERVICE in Manchester, VT has been entrusted with the care of Mr. McCloskey's funeral arrangements.
