Obituary Condolences

EAGLE BRIDGE, N.Y. -- George Peters, 98, of River Road, died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003 at the Bennington Health and Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness. He was the widower of Flora Freemyre Peters, who died in 1998.

Born Aug. 10, 1910 in North Hoosick, he was one of the seven children of Edward and Bertha Peters. He married Flora on Dec. 24, 1932.

George worked for 31 years on the bridge and building crew for the Boston and Maine Railroad. After his job was no longer in existence, he became the custodian at Cambridge Central School until his retirement in 1970.

He was a member of the Center White Creek Church.

Work was what kept George going. He worked in his garden, at the church, at his own house and around the neighborhood.

A very independent sort, he lived alone, in his own home, until last month. He only gave up driving last year. He is predeceased by six siblings and a daughter, Betsey Pohler, who died this past September.

Survivors include a son, Carlton Peters of Eagle Bridge; two daughters and their husbands, Joan and Albert Boisvenue of Hartford and Ann and Richard Wade of Albany; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Friday, Nov. 28, 2003 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Ackley & Ross Funeral Home, 73 West Main St., Cambridge.

The Rev. Clyde Fobes of the Center White Creek Church will conduct a funeral service at the funeral home at 1 p.m.

Burial will follow at Woodlands Cemetery, Cambridge.
