George R. Goeke Jr. Obituary
Bennington, VT - George R. Goeke, Jr., 65, a resident of Elm Street, passed away Thursday April 20, 2017 at Albany Medical Center following a brief illness.

George was born in Newark, NJ on July 10, 1951 the son of George R. Goeke, Sr and Doris P. Currie. George attended school in Cedar Grove, NJ graduating from Cedar Grove Memorial High School. After high school he attended RCA Institute In New York City where he took courses in electronics.

George worked for a number of electronics firms in New Jersey during his career. His last position was as a manager for INACOM in Wharton, NJ. Upon moving to Vermont in 1999 George with his wife Joyce purchased and operated the South Shire Inn in Bennington.

George enjoyed collecting toy trains and was a member of the TCA (Train Collectors Association of America). He was a successful gardener, was very proud of his Jeep Sahara, loved listening to the sounds of the Beach Boys, taking Steam Train excursions and watching and playing golf.

George is survived by his wife Joyce whom he married September 18, 1971 in Warwick, RI, his sister Cathie Tasker of Allentown, PA, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

SERVICES: Services for George were private.
