Obituary Condolences

DORSET -- George Robert Graf, 68, of Dorset, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, at his home. He was born in the Bronx, N.Y. on Oct. 1, 1936, the son of Peter and Jenny Astrid Johnson Graf, and attended local schools and was in the first graduating class of Levittown High School.

He was a United States Naval veteran of the Korean conflict serving from 1954 to 1959 on the USS Boston and submarine USS Trigger.

He moved to Vermont in 1974 and successfully owned and operated hair salons in Chester and the Village Crimpers in Manchester.

George loved the water and held a Class 1 open water scuba divers license. He was an avid skier for over three decades, liked to cook, loved music and loved to sing, laugh and tell jokes. He was fun-loving, good-natured, thoughtful, generous, bright and hard working.

He was a life member of the United States Submarine Veterans and a life member of the American Legion Post 100.

George was passionate about many areas of life. He would work tirelessly to make those in his company feel welcomed. He loved making everyone laugh, feel and look great. His character was displayed in all facts of life from his work to his family. He touched many people throughout his life and will be missed by all those that knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife Katherine Graf of Dorset and two sons, Matthew Graf of Pompton Lakes, N.J. and Peter Graf of Millersville, Pa.

A celebration of life for George will be held Saturday morning, Feb. 26, 2005, at 10 a.m. at the Manchester Congregational Church. There are no visiting hours. For those who wish, memorial contributions in Mr. Graf’s memory may be made to the VFW Harned-Fowler Post 6471 in Manchester, c/o Brewster Funeral Service P.O. Box 885, Manchester Center, VT 05255.
