SHAFTSBURY -- Mr. Gerald B. Robinson, 75, a resident of Lake Paran Road, died Wednesday, May 26, 2004 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center following a long illness from complications of diabetes.

Born in Shaftsbury on July 13, 1928, he was the son of the late John and Agnes (Casey) Robinson. He received his education in Shaftsbury and North Bennington schools. He had worked on the family farm and had worked in construction throughout his life for several area contractors, including William E. Dailey and Edward Haddad, and had worked in the construction of power plants in Monroe and Rowe, Mass. In later years he had done caretaking for area homeowners.

He was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington and enjoyed reading, traveling, gardening, taking walks and hunting. He had a photographic memory and was always current on politics, town and church affairs. He leaves his sister, Patricia Becker of Shaftsbury; his nieces, Claire Becker of Nesconset, Long Island, N.Y., Joan Malinowski of Woodford Lake Estates and Mary Elizabeth O’Brien of Reston, Va.; and a nephew, Edward Flynn of Union, N.J.

He was predeceased by his brothers George Robinson and John Robinson; a sister, Margaret Flynn, in 1997; and a nephew, William Flynn in 1998.

The liturgy of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, May 29 at 1:30 p.m. from St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with the Rev. Edward Howard S.J., pastor, and the Rev. Michael A. DeMasi, former pastor, concelebrating the Mass. A prayer service will precede the funeral Mass at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home on Saturday at 12:45 p.m. Burial will follow in the Casey family lot in St. John’s Cemetery in North Bennington. Friends may call at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, 213 West Main St., Bennington on Friday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. when the family will be present. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
