Obituary Condolences

SHAFTSBURY -- The liturgy of Christian burial for Gerald B. Robinson was celebrated Saturday afternoon, May 29 from St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington. The Mass was con-celebrated by the Rev. Edward Howard, S.J. pastor, and the Rev. Michael A. DeMasi, former pastor, serving as the crucifer, and acolyte was Ivan Matte. Music was provided by organist Louise Gauthier who was accompanied by soloist Millie Pierce who sang several hymns including the processional hymn “Here I Am Lord,” the offertory hymn “In the Garden,” the communion hymn “Ave Maria” and the recessional song was “Danny Boy.” The pall was placed upon Mr. Robinson’s casket by his nieces Mary Elizabeth O’Brien, Claire Becker and Joan Malinowski, a wooden cross was placed upon the pall by his sister Patricia Becker. The Old Testament and New Testament readings were read by a nephew, Edward Flynn. The gifts were presented to the altar by Joan Malinowski, Claire Becker, Siobhem Becker and Mary Elizabeth O’Brien. Burial took place in the Casey family lot in St. John’s Cemetery with the Rev. Howard offering the committal prayers. Serving as bearers were Fred Driscoll, Edward Flynn, John Billow, Charles Becker, Mark Malinowski and Matthew Malinowski. Honorary bearers were Claude Robinson, John Casey, Edward Armstrong and Edward Haddad. A prayer service preceded the funeral mass at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home. On Friday evening the vigil service was held at the funeral home with the Rev. DeMasi officiating. Mr. Robinson, 75, a resident of Paran Road, died May 26, 2004 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical center following a long illness.
