Gerald LaBarge 1933-2011 BENNINGTON Gerald Lawrence LaBarge, age 78, of Bennington entered into eternal life on Tuesday, October 11, 2011, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center after a long illness. Born in Bennington, June 13, 1933, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Margaret (Waite) LaBarge. He was predeceased by his brother, Richard Benjamin LaBarge. Jerry is survived by his sister, Sr. Mary Timothy LaBarge of Watervliet, N.Y.; and his loyal and best friend, Don Cone, of Bennington. He graduated from Bennington High School in 1952 and entered the U. S. Navy in October 1952. He served on the USS Bristol and was honorably discharged in October 1956. He continued his employment at C. L. White Glass Company for 15 years and he worked for H. M. Tuttle Company as a Journeyman Plumber for eight years. In 1979 he began to work for the U. S. Post Office in Bennington until his retirement. A Prayer Service will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at the MAHAR AND SON FUNERAL HOME, 628 Main St in Bennington at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Death and Burial at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church at 11 a.m. Interment with military honors will follow at Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9:30 until the time of the prayer service. If friends desire, contributions in memory of Jerry LaBarge may be made to the Bennington Rescue Squad through the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, VT 05201.
