Gerald M. Pierce 1941-2010 BENNINGTON Gerald M. Pierce, 68, a resident of Jacks Drive in Bennington, went to heaven on October 25, 2010 at Albany, New York Medical Center surrounded by his family. Gerald was born in Bennington, on November 21, 1941 the son of Frances Surdam Pierce and Harold Pierce. Gerry attended Bennington High School and the Boston Massachusetts College of Art. As a young man he was well known as a talented golfer and basketball player. He loved to dance and won many contests. In his early 20's he moved to Milford, Conn., where he met his future wife Apryl Bell. The two were married on August 24, 1963 in Milford. Gerry was a gifted artist with a great love for antiques. He eventually became an antique dealer and operated his own shop "Picture Window Antiques" for many years. More recently he ran his business with his son Gerry out of his own backyard shop. Gerry had a strong appreciation for the beauty of nature. His favorite time of day was early morning when he would sit in his yard, coffee cup in hand, and watch the sun rise. He was a simple and proud man and will be sadly missed by all who loved him. Gerald is survived by his son Gerry Pierce, Jr. and his wife Tina, his daughter Roni Marie Pierce, his brother Edmund Pierce and wife June, his former wife and close friend Apryl Lilac and seven grandchildren, Justin, Krystal, Laurie, Jordan, Jayde, Kiana and Skyler. He was preceded in death by his grandson Richard J. (Little Rick) Knapp. At Gerry's request there are no formal funeral services.
