Geraldine M. Mariani

1919 - 2014 BENNINGTON Geraldine Mary Mariani, 95 a resident of Jewett Drive passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, Dec. 15, 2014 in the presence of her loving family. The daughter of Michael J. and Catherine (Gray) Higgins she was born in Brooklyn, NY on May 22, 1919. She graduated from Pompton Lakes High School and attended secretarial school. She had worked for IBM as a key punch operator, and in Paterson for Wright Aeronautical, following the birth of her daughter, Nancy she became a devoted stay at home mom. Geri was a great artist, she loved to paint, sew, bake for her family and braid rugs. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church. She leaves her husband, Eugene Mariani whom she married Sept. 7, 1946 in Elmwood Park, NJ, daughter, Nancy Lynn Mariani of Bennington, granddaughter, Nicolle Kesack and husband, Marc of Belleville, NJ, great-grandchildren; Lila Grace and Luke, daughter-in-law, Corinne Mariani of N.J., niece, Sandy Buszynski of N.J., other nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her son, Louis Mariani in 1971, brothers, Francis, James and Jack Higgins and sister Betty Toine. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, Dec. 18 at 10:30 a.m. from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church. A prayer service will precede the funeral mass at 10:15 at the Hanson Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home. Burial will take place in the family lot in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Totowa, NJ. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. when the family will be present.
