Geraldine M. Racicot

1929 - 2014 BENNINGTON Geraldine M. "Gerry" Racicot, 85, a resident of Burgess Road in Bennington, died on Monday evening, March 24, 2014, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. She was born on March 10, 1929, in Bennington and was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Irene Parker Gauthier. Gerry received her education in Bennington schools and is a graduate of Bennington High School in the class of 1947. On June 12, 1948, she married Raymond Racicot in Bennington, and they spent sixty wonderful years together. He predeceased her on Nov. 11, 2008. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington. She enjoyed time spent with her family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gerry volunteered for the Red Cross in Bennington. She was an avid New York Yankees fan, and Derek Jeter fan. She is survived by her children, Timothy Racicot and his wife, JoAnn, of Webster Grove, Mo., Scott Racicot and his wife, Leila, of Bennington, Gayle Racicot and Stephen Cooper of Danvers, Mass., Kelli Griffin of Beverly, Mass., Dennis Racicot and his wife, Kim, of Moira, N.Y., Gary Racicot of Bennington, and Kari Thomas and her husband, Randy, of Bennington; nineteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren, as well as one sister Dorothy Blodgett of Bennington. Gerry also has numerous nieces and nephews. She is also predeceased by a great-grandson, "Baby Vinnie." FUNERAL NOTICE: A Prayer service will be held on Thursday, March 27, at 10:30 at the MAHAR AND SON FUNERAL HOME, 628 Main St. Bennington, followed by a Memorial Mass at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church at 11:00AM. At Mrs. Racicot's request, there will not be any calling hours. Interment will follow in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery, in Bennington. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart School through the Mahar and Son Funeral Home. Guestbook condolences may be made at www.maharandsonfuneralhome.net.
