NORTH BENNINGTON -- Miss Gertrude Gallup, 92, a former resident of North Bennington, and more recently of the Danforth Adult Care Center, Hoosick Falls, N.Y. died Thursday morning at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.

She was born in Poquetanuck, Conn., Sept. 28, 1911. She was the daughter of the late William and Almeda (Whipple) Gallup. She received her education in Connecticut.

Gertrude represented the town of Woodford in the Vermont State Legislature.

She enjoyed reading and poetry. Gertrude was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bennington.

Survivors include two nephews, William G. Peck of Bennington, and Roger Nelson of Sunapee, N.H.; two nieces, Jane Sullivan of Smyrna, Del., and Priscilla Nelson of Sunapee, N.H.; and two great-nephews.

A graveside committal service will be held at the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery Tuesday, April 20, 2004 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Norma Drosky, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating.

There will be no calling hours.
