SUNDERLAND -- Gertrude Moffitt, 69, a resident of the Kelley Stand Road, died suddenly on Thursday afternoon, Nov. 8, 2007, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington.

Gertrude was born at home in West Arlington on Sept. 14, 1938. She was the daughter of the late Aubrey O. and Gladys (Hover) Moffitt, growing up in Sunderland she attended local schools there. Gertrude enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, also completing crossword puzzles, picture puzzles, reading and taking walks.

She leaves her two brothers, Arthur Moffitt and Charles Moffitt both of Sunderland; four sisters Ruth Wilcox of Arlington, Mary Wilkinson of Bennington, Barbara Poulin of Cambridgeport and Agnes Brewer of Northfield, Conn.; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m., at the Arlington Chapel of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home with the Rev. Kathleen Clark, pastor of the Federated Church of East Arlington officiating. Burial will follow in the Moffitt family lot in Ira Allen Cemetery.
