Gladys R. Bushee 1917-2012 BENNINGTON Mrs. Gladys Roxie Bushee, 95 a resident of Chime Street died peacefully Thursday morning March 29, 2012 at the Centers For Living and Rehabilitation. Mrs. Bushee was born in Everett, Pa., on March 26, 1917, where she grew up on the family farm, she was the daughter of William and Ida (Rohm) Sparks. She was married to Paul E. Bushee on December 5, 1934 in Cumberland, Md. Mr. Bushee died November 13, 1994. They had relocated to Bennington shortly after their marriage. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Bennington. Throughout her life she enjoyed tending to her vegetable and flower gardens, sewing, canning and baking. She was a nurturing person and her home was always open for friends and family to visit and eat something she had prepared. She will be remembered as a caring and loving woman, especially to her children, grandchildren and friends. She leaves her daughters, Roxie Andrew of North Bennington and Bonita Gabrus and her husband, Bruce, of Shaftsbury; son Robert Bushee of Pownal; daughter-in-law Clista Bushee; grandchildren, Sonja Becker, Christine Smith, Monique Blake, Floyd Blake, Kip Blake, Chad Blake, Brenda Gabrus, Bernice Squires, Becky Miller, Lisa Bushee, Jason Bushee and Shawna Kolakowski; 17 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, she was pre-deceased by sons Ronald and Jerry Bushee; daughter Sylvia Blake; sisters Fay Bushee, Lumelia Lowery and Lavina Smith; and brothers Mirma Sparks, William Sparks, Orby Sparks and Vernon Sparks. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral service will be held on Tuesday April 3 at 11 a.m. at the HANSON-WALBRIDGE FUNERAL HOME with Reverend Jerrod Hugenot, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the family lot in White Chapel Cemetery. A memorial reception will follow the burial services at the Bennington Station Restaurant. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., when the family will be present. Memorial gifts in memory of Mrs. Bushee may be made to either the Bennington Rescue Squad or -Vermont Affiliate in care of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, 213 West Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
