SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Gladys Marie McLucas died Jan. 26, 2006, peacefully at home, following a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born Dec. 24, 1923, in Hoosick Falls, N.Y., the daughter of James C. and Lucy (Elliott) McLucas. She worked for the Bell Telephone Company and Albany Felt in Hoosick Falls before opening and operating her own beauty salon.

She moved to Arizona in 1980 and had lived there since. She was an avid fan of both the Arizona Cardinals and Arizona State University baseball. She also was devoted to St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church and was active with the altar guild, Bible study and prayer group. Gladys also belonged to the Eastern Star and the DAR.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold McLucas; a daughter, Kenna Bylina; a grandson, Shayne McClelland; and her husbands, Kenneth McClellan and Richard Evans. Gladys is survived by a sister, Helen Foss of Greenwich, N.Y.; a brother, John McLucas and his wife Patricia of Hoosick Falls; her children, Harold McClelland and his wife, Linda, of Hoosick Falls, Bonnie McClellan of Scottsdale, and Mary Lou Harrington and her husband, Christopher, of White Creek, N.Y.; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services were held at St. Stephen’s in Scottsdale on Jan. 28, 2006. There will also be a memorial service at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Hoosick Falls on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006, at 11 a.m. with Father Joel Miller presiding. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Main Street, Hoosick Falls, N.Y. 12090.
