Guy A. Cameron 1925 - 2008 POWNAL Guy Alfred Cameron, 82, of Lazy Lane died Friday, Oct. 31, 2008, at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation, following a long illness. Born in Brandon on Nov. 25, 1925, son of Guy Alfred Cameron Sr. and Nellie Belle Bryant Cameron, Guy received his education in Arlington and later received his GED while serving in the Army. He later took some college courses. Guy served for three years in the Navy during World War II and for 14 ½ years in the Army, serving in the Korean Conflict for a year and a half. He was awarded the Bronze Star. Guy was formerly employed by the Hale Company in Arlington, Vermont. He also had been employed at General Interiors in North Bennington and at Bennington Display both in Manchester and Bennington, VT He was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church and a life member of both the American Legion Post 13 and the Disabled American Veterans. Guy enjoyed playing golf, woodworking and, in earlier years, enjoyed fishing, especially the South Stream. He leaves his wife, the former Jean Elizabeth Hard, whom he married June 27, 1970, at the First United Methodist Church in Bennington. Besides his wife, Jean Cameron of Pownal, he leaves four sons, Rick Cameron of White Creek, N.Y., Rod Cameron of North Bennington, and Jamie and Scott Cameron, both of California; two daughters, Camille Cameron of Pittsfield, Mass., and Cynthia Cameron of California; three stepdaughters, Karen Eagan of Waterbury Center, Jennifer Mary Krolak of Ballston Spa Park, N.Y., and Paula Cyphers of Westchester, Ill.; 11 grandchildren and 13 great -grandchildren, and a sister, Barbara Piscopo of Rutland. FUNERAL NOTICE: A memorial service to celebrate the life of Guy Alfred Cameron will be Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008, at 1 p.m. from the MAHAR and SON FUNERAL HOME with Mother Anita Schell-Lambert, rector of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, officiating. Burial will take place in the family lot in Evergreen Cemetery If friends desire, contributions in memory of Guy Alfred Cameron may be made to the Pownal Rescue Squad through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home 628 Main St., Bennington, VT 05201
