1946 - 2014 BENNINGTON Gwendolyn E. Denio, age 68, a resident of Chimes St. died on Thursday afternoon, Nov. 13, at the home of her daughter following a long illness, surrounded by her family. Gwen was born in Bennington on Aug. 12, 1946 and was the daughter of the late George and Jennie (Robinson) Stevens. She received her education in Bennington schools. She married Thomas Denio on Sept. 5, 1964 in North Bennington. He died on Nov. 12, 2011. For most of her life she was a waitress at the Blue Benn Diner. She has also worked at Geannelis's Restaurant, at Grants Department Store and the Harvest House at Woolworths. Gwen was a member of the Eagles Club of Bennington. She enjoyed bowling in the Couples League with Tom as her partner. Most of all she liked spending time with her family and also enjoyed the ocean at Hampton Beach, N.H. Her grandchildren, and great grandchildren were the love of her life. Survivors include two daughters, Karen Webb and her companion, James Tennyson, of Bennington, and Tammy and Steven Roya, also of Bennington. She leaves two grandchildren, Jessica Hemingway and her husband, Shayne, and Andrew Hughes and wife, Ashley; two great grandchildren, Owen and Jaydn Hughes. Gwen had two sisters, Linda of Fla., and Jennie of Texas, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is predeceased by one sister, Barbara Caron. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be held on Tuesday evening, Nov. 18, at 7 p.m. at the MAHAR AND SON FUNERAL HOME, 628 Main St. Bennington, VT, with Pastor Dale Hall officiating. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5 p.m. until the time of the service.
