Harold O. Babcock

1936 - 2010 GRAFTON, NY Harold O. Babcock, 74, of Route 2, died peacefully at his home on Friday, July 16, surrounded by his loving family, under the care of Community Hospice of Rensselaer County.

Born in Petersburgh on Feb. 13, 1936, he was the son of the late H. Raymond Babcock and Mary Grogan Babcock Stasik. Educated in Hoosick Falls school, he was a lifelong resident of the area. He worked for Nancy Shoe and also for many contractors as a carpenter. Most recently, Harold worked in maintenance for over 20 years at the RPI Fieldhouse in Troy, retiring in 1999. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He leaves his two daughters and their spouses, Denise and Dennis Kaufmann of Hoosick Falls, Donna and George Shuhart of Berlin, his longtime companion Ida Teal and her son, Randy Teal, of Grafton; sisters, Joan (Sherman) Hoffman of Hoosick Falls, Patricia (late William) McCart of White Creek, grandchildren Michael and Adam (Erika) Kaufmann, Jillian and Nicole Shuhart; great-grandchildren, Sebastian and Ayden Kaufmann, step-great-granddaughter, Aysha, along with many nieces and nephews.

MEMORIAL NOTICE: Per Harold's wishes, there will be no formal services or calling hours. His cremated remains will be buried privately in Maple Grove Cemetery in Hoosick Falls. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Harold's life with his family at the Berlin Volunteer Fire Hall on Sunday, July 25, from noon until 4 p.m.
