NORTH BENNINGTON -- Mr. Harold E. Colvin, 74, a resident of Route 67 West, died unexpectedly at his residence Tuesday, May 6, 2003 following a long illness.

Born in Shaftsbury on Aug. 7, 1928, he was the son of the late William C. and Katherine Mae (LaFlamme) Colvin. He received his education in North Bennington and was a graduate of the former North Bennington High School class of 1946.

Mr. Colvin was first married to the former Mary Brown of West Arlington. Mr. Colvin married the former Marion Granger at the North Bennington Baptist Church on June 30, 1960. Mrs. Colvin died Feb. 18, 1992.

In earlier years Mr. Colvin was employed by Bennington College. He later became a self-employed sign painter and was recognized for his fine work.

Mr. Colvin was a member of the North Bennington Baptist Church.

Over the years his hobbies and interests included camping and fishing, with his wife Marion, on Lake Luzerne.

Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Edwin A. and Barbara Colvin of Shaftsbury; a brother-in-law, Raymond Crosier of Bennington; a sister-in-law, Ann Colvin Clements of Vassalboro, Maine; his caregiver, Phyllis Monick of Bennington; nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. Mr. Crosier was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters, William F. Colvin, Russell W. Colvin, Helen Crosier and Dorothy Sausville Ward.

The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Thursday, May 8 at 10 a.m. with Rev. David Jinno, pastor of the North Bennington Baptist Church, officiating.

Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. when the family will be in attendance.

Burial will take place in the family lot in Grandview Cemetery, North Bennington.
