Harold F. Brace Obituary
Harold F. Brace, 67, a resident of Jefferson Avenue, passed away following a brief illness, June 22, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. Harold was born in Bennington on March 1, 1949 the son of Mr. & Mrs. Alfred and Pauline (Brace) Burgess. He attended North Bennington schools, graduating from Mt. Anthony Union High School. He enlisted in 1971 in the United States Marine Corps and served his country during the Viet-Nam era from 1971 to 1979. Harold retired from NAPA Auto as a manager after 27 years. He was a member of American Legion Post 13 and the Moose Club in Bennington. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and being on his boat. He loved going to Lake Champlain and enjoyed rebuilding his hunting camp in Dunnville. He cherished times spent with his family especially his children and grandchildren. Harold is survived by his wife, Carol ( Sherman), daughters Beth Brace and Katherine Schnopp (Alec) both of Bennington, a very special family friend Kathy Campbell, brothers James Kittel (Nancy) of Gulf Breeze, FL, Albert Burgess of Arizona and Wayne Burgess (Julie) of Hoosick Falls, NY, sister Marjorie White (Phillip) San Antonio, TX, grandchildren Zachary, Matthew, Lisa Marie, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Harold is also predeceased by a sister Harriet Harrington. FUNERAL NOTICE:Calling hours will be Tuesday June 28, 2016 from 5-7pm and the funeral will be held Wednesday June 29, 2016 at 1pm at Hanson-Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home 213 West Main Street Bennington, VT. Interment will follow in Woodford Cemetery. Immediately following there will be a celebration of Harold's life at the American Legion in Bennington, VT. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Vermont Veterans Home for a memory plaque honoring Harold's Marine Service that will be placed at the Veterans Home at a later date c/o Hanson-Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home P.O.
