Harold H. "Bud" Vallee 1925 - 2009 BENNINGTON Harold H. "Bud" Vallee, 84, a resident of Willow Road, Bennington, died Thursday, March 19, 2009 at the home of his daughter and son-in-law in Hoosick Falls, N.Y. Born in Stillwater, N.Y., Feb. 16, 1925, son of Harley and Gladys Bushee Vallee. Bud received his early education at the Cobblestone School in Paper Mill Village and at Bennington High School. A World War II veteran, Bud served in the Army where he saw action in the Battle of the Bulge and crossed Europe into Berlin. Bud married the former Bette Noyes on May 16, 1951. Mrs. Vallee died Aug. 31, 2004. From 1959 until 1973 Bud and Bette owned the well known Blue Benn Diner in Bennington. Bud later worked for ten years at Bijur Lubricating until the time of his retirement. An avid fan of the New York Yankees, Bud also enjoyed horseracing, and bowling. He bowled in several local leagues and when he retired from bowling he was the oldest active league member. He leaves a daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Leonard Kelley of Hoosick Falls, N.Y.; a son, Richard Vallee of White Creek, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Sean Watson, and his wife, Cara, of Johnsonville, N.Y., David Watson, and his wife, Stacey, of Tilson, N.Y., Christina Grupe, and her husband, Scott, of West Arlington, Rikki Vallee of Bennington and Aidan Vallee of White Creek; six great-grandchildren; two nieces, Sandy Senecal, and her husband, Artie, of Bennington and Wanda Sherman, and her husband, John, of White Creek and a brother-in-law, David Masten of Ballston Spa, N.Y. Mr. Vallee was predeceased by three sisters, Mildred Houghtaling, Therese Harrington and Marion Anderson. FUNERAL NOTICE: Memorial services celebrating the life of Bud Vallee will be held from the MAHAR & SON FUNERAL HOME Monday, March 23, 2009 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Robin Greene officiating. Friends may call at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. when the family will be in attendance. Should friends desire contributions in Harold H.
