BENNINGTON -- Harold H. Hatch Sr., 82, a longtime resident of Fillmore Street, died on Tuesday, April 25, 2006, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, following a long illness.

Harold was born in Bennington on Aug. 12, 1923, and was the son of the late Cornelius F. Hatch and the former Clara E. (Winslow) Hatch. He received his education in the North Bennington and Bennington Schools. Mr. Hatch was a World War II Navy veteran.

Mr. Hatch married the former Mary M. Peabody on June 13, 1942, in Cambridge, N.Y.

In earlier years, Mr. Hatch was employed for 32 years at the former Polygraphic Co. in North Bennington. He later was employed in the maintenance department at Bennington College.

Mr. Hatch was member of the American Legion Post No. 13 of Bennington.

An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Hatch enjoyed hunting, fishing, baseball and playing cards.

Harold is survived by his wife, Mary of Bennington; three sons, Harold H. Hatch Jr. of Randolph, and William F. Hatch and Michael Hatch, both of Bennington; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Winifred Ayers of Bennington; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by a son and daughter, Robert Cornelius Hatch, who died in infancy, and Patricia O’Donnell, who died Feb. 20, 1993.

At the request of Mr. Hatch, there are no services scheduled.

Burial will take place privately in the family lot in Hinsdillville Cemetery in North Bennington.
