BENNINGTON -- Harold G. King, 81, a resident of Depot Street, died on Tuesday afternoon, June 26, 2007, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Boston, Mass., following a long illness.

Mr. King was born on May 30,1926, he was the son of the late Charles G. and Bessie (Bell) King and received his education in Salem, N.Y. A Korean War Veteran, he served overseas with the Army. Following his discharge, he returned this area. Mr. King had worked at the Nancy Shoe Company in Hoosick Falls, N.Y., Shea Wood Products in North Bennington and Stanley Tools in Shaftsbury. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1861 of Bennington and V.F.W. Post 1332 of Bennington. He loved playing poker and liked cats and flowers.

Mr. King leaves his brother, Raymond L. King of Bennington and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three sisters Ethel Oldham, Shirley Hall and Dorothy Huntoon.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 2 at 11 a.m. at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home with the Rev. Robin Greene, resident Chaplain of the Vermont Veterans Home officiating. Interment, with military honors will follow in the King lot in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home on Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. when the family will be present.
