Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Funeral services for Mr. Harry D. Tietjen were held at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home on Thursday afternoon with the Rev. Mary Lee-Clark, pastor of the Second Congregational Church, officiating.

Music for the service was provided by organist Louis Gauthier, who accompanied the congregation in singing “ I Danced in the Morning.” Mr. Tietjen’s daughter, Marta Musnon, sang “Be Thou My Vision” acapella.

Serving as bearers were a son, John Tietjen, Joshua Munson, Bill Hill, Bruce Oborsky, Ross Oborsky and Mark Oborsky. Burial with full military honors took place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery with the Rev. Lee-Clark offering the committal prayers. Military honors were accorded the World War II Marine veteran by members of the Vermont Army National Guard under the direction of Capt. Trudell, with Sgt. Carvey, Staff Sgt. Hall, Staff Sgt. Morrissey, Spc. Pagan, Spc. Barnes and Staff Sgt. Cunningham. Following the rifle salute and taps, Capt. Trudell presented the American flag which draped the casket to Mr. Tietjen’s wife, Betty.

Mr. Tietjen, 80, a resident of Max Meadows, Va., died Nov. 5, 2005.

Arrangements were under the care of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, 213 West Main St., Bennington.
