Harry J. Bishop 1938 - 2009 BENNINGTON VT Harry J. Bishop, 70, a resident of North Bennington Road, died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Bennington. Born in Bennington Sept. 28, 1938, he was the son of Harry and Florence Hurley Bishop. Harry received his education in Bennington and was a 1959 graduate of Bennington High School. He served in the Vermont National Guard. For many years, Harry was a member of the Carpenters Union. He worked for Patricca Construction and several local businesses. He enjoyed traveling, dancing, walking, reading, collecting and playing cards. He frequented many functions at the Hoosick Falls Senior Center where he attended daily. Harry was a member of Bennington Moose Lodge 1223 and Bennington Eagles Club 1861. He had previously belonged to other civic and fraternal organizations in the Bennington area. He leaves two sons and daughters-in-law, Shane P. and Wendy Bishop of Bennington and Lee James and Krista Bishop of Florida, Mass.; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Rita and Randall Niles of Bennington; a niece, nephew and cousins. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from the MAHAR & SON FUNERAL HOME Monday, Aug. 10, 2009, at 12 noon, with Pastor Douglas Duncan of the Community Bible Church of Williamstown officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family at Hinsdillville Cemetery. Following the service, the family would like to invite Harry's family and friends to a celebration of his life at the Bennington Moose Lodge. Should friends desire, contributions in Harry J.
