Obituary Condolences

ARLINGTON -- The Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home Arlington Chapel was filled Friday, Dec. 23, 2005, for the memorial service for Harry McDermott Sr. The Rev. Bradford Clark, rector of St. James Episcopal Church in Arlington, conducted the service.

Rev. Clark offered scripture readings and the eulogy. Mr. McDermott’s son, Harry Jr., offered words of remembrance and a time of reflection.

Those in attendance listened to the songs “You’ll Be There,” “When I Get Where I’m Going,” and “Live Like You Were Dying,” three of Mr. McDermott’s favorite songs.

Military honors were accorded by color guard members from American Legion Post 69 in Arlington.

Chaplain Fred Sheldon led the congregation in a prayer service and color guard member Tom Hayes presented the American flag to Mr. McDermott’s son, Albert.

Taps was sounded by Carl Graves.

A time of fellowship and refreshments followed the service at the American Legion Post 69. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Harry McDermott Sr., a lifelong resident of East Arlington, died Dec. 10, 2005, at Seven Rivers Medical Center in Crystal River, Fla.

Arrangements were under the care of Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, Arlington Chapel, Route 7A, Arlington.
