Obituary Condolences

ARLINGTON -- The liturgy for the burial of the dead for Harry Payne Bingham Jr. was celebrated Wednesday, June 8, 2005, at St. James Episcopal Church in Arlington.

The Rev. Bradford Clark was the celebrant. Music was under the direction of organist Rebecca Sampson who led the congregation in the singing of the hymns “O God, Our Help in Ages Past,” “How Lovely is Thy Dwelling Place” and “Ye Watchers and Ye Holy Ones.” The Lord’s Prayer was sung by soloist Lindsay Dyett.

Mr. Bingham’s grandson Pliny Jewell IV offered the eulogy. Following the service a tune of fellowship and refreshments was held at the Equinox Hotel in Manchester. Interment was held prior to the service in the family lot in Evergreen Cemetery. Rev. Clark offered burial rites and committal prayers. Chaplain Fred Sheldon of American Legion Post 69 in Arlington presented the flag to Mr. Bingham’s wife. Taps was sounded by Carl Graves. Harry Payne Bingham, Jr. of Palm Beach, Fla., and formerly of Bennington, died Jan. 18, 2005 in Palm Beach. Arrangements were under the care of Hanson-Walbridge Arlington Chapel, Route 7A, Arlington, VT.
