Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Hazel A. Harrington, 87, a resident of Blackberry Lane in Bennington, died on July 1, 2007, at the Bennington Health and Rehab Center following long illness.

She was born in Shaftsbury on May 26, 1920, and was the daughter of the late Owen and Mabel (Van Kleeck) Bevis. Hazel attended schools in Shaftsbury and is a graduate of the North Bennington High School, class of 1938.

She married Paul L. Harrington on June 25, 1939, in Shaftsbury. He predeceased her on Jan. 21, 1993

Hazel had been employed at Stanley Tool Company for several years, and in the housekeeping department at Bennington College for several years. She was a former member of the Women of the Moose in Bennington. Hazel enjoyed crafts, crocheting, knitting, cooking and baking. She was member of the Congregational Church in North Bennington.

Hazel is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Lee and Susan Harrington of Shaftsbury and Peter and Lois Ann Harrington of Charlotte; one daughter and son-in-law Mabel and Ronald Myers of Hoosick Falls, N.Y.; one brother, Elmer Bevis, of North Bennington; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She is predeceased by one daughter, Pauline A. Harrington who died in Nov. 1944, and one brother, Francis Bevis who died in January 1983.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday morning, July 5 at 9:30 a.m. at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St. in Bennington with the Rev. Penny Rich-Smith, pastor of the North Bennington Congregational Church, officiating.

Interment will follow in the family lot in Center Shaftsbury Cemetery in Shaftsbury.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, July 4 from 7 to 9 p.m.
