Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- A prayer service for Hazel Zagata was held Monday morning at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington followed by a Mass of Resurrection at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church. The Rev. Vincent Coppola, csc associate pastor, officiated the services.

Assisting at the Mass were Mr. Edward Molloy, Mr. Francis Sausville, Dr. Barth Vander Els, and Mr. Leonard Anzivino.

The pall was placed on the casket by staff members of the funeral home and the Cross of Resurrection was placed on the casket by Mrs. Zagata’s daughter, Ms. Joan Zagata.

Selected hymns for the services were “Amazing Grace,” “O Sacrament Most Holy,” “Lord of All Hopefulness,” “On Eagle’s Wings” and “Ave Maria.”

The music was played by organist Mr. Donald McMahon and violinist Ms. Michelle Alexander.

The Old Testament Scripture was read by Dr. Barth Vander Els, and the New Testament Scripture was read by Mr. Leonard Anzivino.

Interment services followed in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington with the Rev. Coppola offering the committal prayers.

Pallbearers for the services were staff of the funeral home.

Mrs. Hazel T. Zagata, 95, a resident of the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington died on Wednesday, Aug. 15, following a long illness. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
