BENNINGTON -- The funeral of Mrs. Heather Bogardus was held from the Mahar and Son Funeral Home Wednesday evening where memorial tributes were offered by family and friends.

Rachella Palmatier, Heather’s sister, read the poem “Do not stand at My Grave and Weep.” A brother in law John Dunham, offered two readings.

Heather’s husband, Richard sang “Little Wing.” Suzanne Connell, a friend of the family, read the poem “I’m Free.” The song “Wind Beneath My Wings,” by Bette Midler, was also played.

Eulogies were offered by Heather’s mother, Carolyn Hickok, her mother-in-law, Joanne Dunham, and a cousin Julie Lorette.

Prayers offered during the service were the 3rd Psalm and the Lord’s Prayer.

Attending the calling hours in a group to pay their respects to the family were members of the Bennington Lions Club of which Heather’s father-in-law, J. Rusty Dunham, and mother-in-law, Joanne, are members.

A reception followed at the family home on Observatory Street.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home.
