Helen F. Appleby

Helen B. Appleby passed away on Sept. 20, 2013 at the age of 87. She was the wife of the late Philip F. Appleby.She is survived by her children, Laurie and her partner June Martin of Boston, Mass., Robert and his wife Barbara of Monroe, Conn., Kenneth of Nanticoke, Pa., David and his wife Carol of McKinney, Texas, Andrew and his wife Kristiana of Bloomfield Hills, Mich., and Scott and his wife Gayle of Darien, Conn. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren. Helen was born in Glasgow, Scotland and very proud of her Scottish heritage. In her youth she served in the Girl Guides and Sea Rangers. She was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Fullerton Chapter, Glasgow and a former member of the Seekonk chapter. Helen was also a member of the Scottish Heritage Society. Helen was an unconditionally loving and loyal mother, grandmother, wife, and friend. She had a special gift and passion for always being productive, whether cooking, gardening, crocheting, talking Scotland, or mothering of her family. Her perseverance, intelligence, gentle humor, and kindness, "If you can't say something good, don't say anything," will be remembered as a gift to all of us who were fortunate enough to know her. Above all, she was a beautiful person; much loved by her children and family. She will be deeply missed.
