BENNINGTON -- Helen E. Hustler, 77, a resident of Cora B. Whitney Apartments, Gage Street, died Saturday, July 2, 2005, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center following a long illness.

Born in Bennington on April 11, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Leo J. and Helen (Winslow) Plante. She received her education in the Bennington schools and was a 1947 graduate of the former Bennington High School.

In earlier years Helen was employed at the Union Carbide Corp. in Bennington. She was a member of the American Legion Post 13 Auxiliary, the Women of the Moose and the Brooklyn Belles. She enjoyed dancing, music, Bingo and playing cards. Helen’s favorite pastime was spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include a son, Robert J. Hustler, of Thomasville, N.C; a daughter, Danielle Colvin of Shaftsbury; two grandchildren, Brianna and Christian Colvin, of Shaftsbury; a sister, Irene Hilchey of Bennington; a sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Sam Willis, of Scotia, N.Y., a brother and sister-in-law, Leo and Susan Plante, of Bennington; an aunt, Genevieve Sweet, of Bennington; a very close friend, KiKi Bushee, of Bennington; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Helen was predeceased by a son-in-law, Gary Colvin, and a brother-in-law, Steven Hilchey.

Memorial services celebrating the life of Helen E. Hustler will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Wednesday, July 6, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Norma Drosky, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating.

Friends are invited to pay their respects to the family at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place at the family lot in White Chapel Cemetery.

Contributions in Helen E. Hustler’s memory may be made to either the Vermont Diabetes Association or the Vermont Heart Association through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, VT 05201.

All members of the following organizations are asked to meet at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon to conduct services in memory of Helen Hustler: Post 13 American Legion Auxiliary at 1:30 p.m. and Women of the Moose at 1:45 p.m.
