Helen Gregg BENNINGTON Helen Gregg, age 90, passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side, on Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at her home at Fillmore Pond. Mrs. Gregg was born in Garfield, N.J., the daughter of the late John and Julia Sabo Veleber. She met her beloved husband, Joseph M. Gregg, at work and they were married in July, 1952. They shared 46 years of marriage until Joe's passing in 1998. Helen remarked many times that Joe was the "love of her life". Helen was a gentle, loving, and spiritual woman. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and took much pride in the accomplishments of her family. She found the joy in simple things such as a beautiful sunset, a ripe tomato from her garden or a handwritten letter from a friend. Kind and compassionate to everyone, she will be deeply missed. She leaves her daughters Dianne Gregg Harrington of Sudbury, Mass. and Joan Vargo and husband Robert of Shaftsbury, Vt., grandchildren Steven Vargo, Brian Vargo, Meredith Harrington, Erin Flatley, Sara Strohecker, James Harrington and Julie Davis, nine great grandchildren, a brother Andrew Veleber and his wife Eleanor of Washington state, several in-laws especially her brother in law Rudy Gregg and wife Frieda of N.J. and sister in law Virginia Lukashefski. She is also leaves many nieces and newphews. In addition to her husband she was pre-deceased by a son in law Daniel Harrington and four brothers and two sisters. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be held on Monday March 10 at 10 a.m. at The Redeemer Lutheran Church, Route 67, Shaftsbury. Burial will follow in the family lot in Center Shaftsbury Cemetery. Friends may call at the HANSON-WALBRIDGE FUNERAL HOME on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. when the family will be present.
