Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Ms. Helen Grenon, 74, a resident of County Street, died on Tuesday morning, Jan. 31, 2006, at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington, following a brief illness.

She was born in Troy, N.Y., on Feb. 9, 1931, the daughter of the late Anatole and Dorilda (Lacquerre) Grenon. While she was still young the family moved to Newport, N.H. She received her education in Newport schools. During the late 1950s, the family moved to Bennington. Helen worked as a store clerk in several area stores over the years, and was employed at Woolworth’s at the time of its closing. With her brother Hubert, she was involved in the VFW Post No. 1332 of Bennington, the American Legion Post No. 13 and the Moose Family Center of Bennington. She enjoyed traveling with the senior citizens groups of Bennington, Manchester and Hoosick Falls, N.Y.

Helen was an avid reader and bowler, and enjoyed taking walks and corresponding with friends.

Helen is survived by two aunts, Georgette Carmel of North Smithfield, R.I., and Martha Parenteau of Cumberland, R.I. She is recently predeceased by her brother, Hubert, with whom she had resided.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, Feb. 3, 2006, at 3 p.m. at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home in Bennington with the Rev. Michael DeMasi, officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service.
