Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Funeral services for Helen K. Proud were held from Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church Monday, Nov. 19, 2007, where the Mass of Resurrection was offered by the Rev. James Preskenis, pastor.

The organist was Donald McMahon and the soloist was Monica Murray. Musical selections offered during the Mass were “Sing With All the Saints in Glory,” “O Breathe On Me O Breath of God,” “Here I Am Lord” and “When Irish Eyes Are Smiling.” Acolytes serving the Mass were Leonard Anzivino, Ted Hajos, Gerald McMurray and John Reed.

The pall was placed on Mrs. Proud’s casket by her children, Mary Specht, Anne Moylan, Julie Ray, John Proud and Timothy Proud. A wooden cross was then placed on the casket by Mrs. Proud’s husband John Proud Sr. The scriptural readings were offered by two granddaughters Katie Cicirelli and Wendy Ganson. The Offertory Gifts were presented by four grandchildren, Jill Moylan, Jessica Proud, Leeann and Katelyn Ray. A eulogy was offered by Mrs. Proud’s son, Timothy.

Serving as pall bearers were three grandsons, Christopher and Thomas Moylan, Lucas Proud and three nephews, Pat, John and Michael Kinney.

The burial took place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery with Father Preskenis offering the committal prayers.

A reception followed the services at the Bennington Station Restaurant.

Sunday evening during the calling hours the Wake Service was offered by the Rev. Vincent Copolla associate pastor of Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church.

Helen K. Proud, 92, a longtime resident of Pleasant Valley Road, Bennington, died Thursday Nov. 15, 2007, in Bennington. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
