Helen A. Reed

HOOSICK Helen Allison Reed, 93, lifelong resident of the Town of Hoosick, died on March 31, in Hoosick Falls. She graduated from Hoosick Falls High School in 1934.

She was the wife of the late Forrest J. Reed Sr., daughter of the late Helen Haswell Sweet and the late Tibbits T. Sweet, sister of the late Carol Sweet Cassidy, the late Winchell Haswell Sweet and the late Ellis Tibbits Sweet.

She was an active member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, and a past president of St. Hilda's Guild. Allison also served as past Worthy Matron and past treasurer of the old Van Rensselaer Star Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, as well as past district deputy Grand Matron of the 2nd Albany-Rensselaer-Schenectady District OES. Later she was a member of the Victorian Star Chapter in Schaghticoke.

She was a 60 year member of the Hoosick Grange, a 39 year member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and past president of the Hoosick Falls High School Alumni Association. Other participation included the Cambridge Area Branch of the Woman's National Farm and Garden Association, and past division treasurer of the NY State WNF&G Association.

In addition, she assisted with the family insurance business for 55 years.

She leaves a daughter, Roberta Reed Brandt of Budd Lake, N.J.; two sons, Forrest J. Reed Jr. of Cambridge, and Robert A. Reed of Hoosick Falls; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in St. Mark's Episcopal Church, where the Burial Office will be read by Rev. Lorrie Lyons. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to the ROBSON-REINFURT FUNERAL HOME, 72 Main Street, Hoosick Falls, for visitation on Friday from 4-7 p.m.
