Obituary Condolences

PAWLET -- Helen W. Mach passed away on Sunday, Aug. 19, 2007, at the Rutland Regional Medical Center.

Helen was born on Sept. 8, 1916, in Pawlet, the daughter of Clarence and Elsie (Lackey) Wilson.

Helen was involved with education for over 40 years, starting first as a teacher and finally as a principal. She started her teaching career in Danby, followed by Dorset, Salem, and finally back in Dorset Elementary where she served as principal. In addition to her education career, she also kept all the books for the family farm, Mach Farm. Helen enjoyed her hobby of rug-hooking. She also branched into rug design. In keeping with her love of education, she shared her knowledge of rug-hooking with many in an attempt to get them started in this timeless craft.

Helen was a past member of the Pawlet Select Board and the library board.

She was predeceased by her husband, Rudolph Mach, on Feb. 11, 1978.

Survivors are her daughter, Leah Mach of Castle Rock, Colo.; two sons, Philip Mach and his wife Kay and Daniel Mach and his wife Karen, all of Pawlet; a former son-in-law, Earl McCurley; her grandchildren, Daniel Mach of Clarendon, Jason Mach of Middletown Springs, Jodie Mach and her husband Brain Rawls of Pawlet, Julie Mach and her husband Justin Lyman of Pawlet; great-grandchildren, Daniel Mach and Audrey Lyman; a brother, Earle Wilson; and a sister, Eleanor Roberts.

Services were held at the Robert M. King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville, NY, on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2007.

Burial followed in Mettowee Valley Cemetery in Pawlet.
