Helene C. Thompson 1918-2011 ARLINGTON Helene C. Thompson, 92, a resident of East Arlington Road in Arlington, passed away peacefully March 27, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family. Helene was born in Brooklyn, New York on April 3, 1918 the daughter of George W. and Sybilla Grosjurg Zimmer. She received her education in Bloomfield, New Jersey schools, graduating from Bloomfield High School and Business School in New Jersey. Helene worked for Mack Molding in the Finance Department for 25 years. Helene was a member of Christ Our Savior (St. Margaret Mary's) Catholic Church in Arlington where she was a member of the Sodality. She was very active and had a great sense of community for the Town of Arlington. She was a member and Treasurer of the PTA, was also Town Auditor, and was a bookkeeper for many different businesses in Arlington. Helene was the treasurer for Dollars for Scholars for many years and was the Arlington correspondent for the Bennington Banner. Helene enjoyed her work and cherished times spent with her family. Helene is survived by her children Patrick J. Thompson and his wife, Kathie, of Arlington, Joseph P. Thompson of Arlington, Kathleen T. Thompson of Bennington and Thomas R. Thompson and his wife, Judy, of Bennington; her grandchildren Michael, Daniel, Patrick, Jr., Christopher, Scott, David and Marleigh Thompson and Katie and Casey Kevorkian; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband James Philip Thompson whom she married on September 9, 1950. Mr. Thompson died October 15, 1995; her brother, George Zimmer, who died April 26, 2010; and her sister, Jeanne Walsh, who died May 14, 2010. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be celebrated Thursday morning, March 31, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Christ Our Savior (St. Margaret Mary's) Catholic Church in Arlington. Interment will follow in the family lot in St. Columbans Cemetery. There are no visiting hours.
