Obituary Condolences

LYNDONVILLE -- Henry Leland Marshall, 80, of Bluffton, S.C., and most recently the River Glen House in Littleton, N.H, died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2002, in Lyndonville.

He was born in Gloucester, Mass., May 15, 1922, the son of Leland and Harriet (Burkhart) Marshall. During World War II, he served his country in the U.S. Army as a master sergeant. Mr. Marshall was a graduate of Dartmouth College, Class of 1944, and the University of Nebraska.

For many years he worked as a salesman for A.G. Nelson Paper Co. in New York City. Many people will remember the Iron Kettle Motel in Shaftsbury, which he owned with his wife Elizabeth.

Survivors include his son, John H. Marshall and wife Jan S. Eastman and their daughter Samantha Duncan, all of Peacham; a brother in law, Herbert Bates Jr. and wife Marie of Mashpee, Mass.; a nephew, David Bates; and nieces Joyce Bates, Susan Fox Digilio, Ginny Weiss, Carol Tasker and Happy Hutchins.

He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth (Bates) Marshall, May 14, 2002.

A memorial concert, in memory of Mr. Marshall and his late wife Elizabeth, who died in Bluffton, S.C., will be held at the Peacham Congregational Church, in Peacham on Saturday, May 31, 3 p.m.
