Obituary Condolences

DORSET -- Herb Wood, 66, died peacefully on Nov. 18, 2005, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington.

Herb was born in Bridgeport, Conn., and grew up in Eastchester, N.Y. He graduated from Otterbein College and served in the U.S. Navy. In 1966, Herb married Jane Cauvet and together they moved to Nashville, Tenn., where he was editor at Billboard Magazine.

The family spent 10 years in Los Angeles where Herb served as the creative director at Motown and ABC Records. In Vermont, Herb was a mortgage originator before he became the property manager at Equinox on the Battenkill.

Herb had many talents and was highly involved in the community. He served on the Deaconate at the First Congregational Church and Dorset Churches. He applied his gift for healing through classes in metaphysics in California and it continued to grow in Vermont where he touched many people in church services and healing groups.

He had a passion for music and sang in a variety of groups including the Dorset Church Choir. He loved reading, studying spirituality and healing arts, had an amazing capacity for trivia, dabbled in visual arts, loved motion pictures, and touched many people with his warmth, infectious spirit and sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife, Jane; daughter-in-law, Patricia Rosen; his sons, Josh and Adam; and his siblings, Jeff and Barbara.

A service of psalms and hymns will be held at Dorset Church at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks those who wish to remember Herb to plant a tree or an herb in his honor.
