Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Mr. Herbert Myron Mattison, 60, a resident of Benmont Avenue, died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005, at his residence following a long illness.

He was born in Bennington, Sept. 25, 1944. He was the son of the late Gilbert Mattison and the former Hazel (Stratton) Mattison, who survives.

Herb received his education in Bennington and was a 1962 graduate of Bennington High School.

Mr. Mattison served in the U.S. Navy from 1963 to 1967. He married the former Donna L. Vadakin, Feb. 15, 1991, in Bennington.

For many years Herb had been employed at the Bennington Banner as a pressman.

He was a life member of the VFW Post 1332 in Bennington. Herb enjoyed his beloved dog “Snuggli” and riding his motorcycle.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Mattison of Bennington; two daughters, Tina Reed and Angela Barr, both of Bennington; a son, Herbert Mattison Jr. of Bennington; two stepsons, Todd Vosburgh and Hank Vosburgh, both of Bennington; 10 grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren; his mother, Hazel Mattison of Bennington; two brothers, Gilbert “Bud” Mattison and Andrew Mattison, both of Bennington; two sisters, Barbara Becker and Debbie Giroux, both of Bennington; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

At the request of Mr. Mattison there will be no calling hours or funeral services.
