GRAND ISLE -- Howard Arthur Parizo, 68, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003 at the Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington surrounded by his loving family.

Howard was born in Grand Isle on Aug. 11, 1935 the son of Loris and Emma (Paradee) Parizo. He attended Milton High School and graduated from Essex Junction High School in 1954. He also attended the University of Vermont.

Howard had many jobs through out his lifetime. From 1954 to 1959 he served in the Army and Army Reserves. He received training in gas refrigeration and boilers, he worked for many heavy equipment construction companies as well as owned and operated his own hotel and bar. He also served as a Vermont State Police Officer in the early sixties.

Howard was proud to be a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 8417 and the DAV.

He also enjoyed his memberships with the Isle of Patmos Lodge #17 F&AM, the Order of the Eastern Star and served as treasurer with the Islands in the Sun Senior Citizen Center in Alburg.

Howard had many interests and hobbies, he enjoyed fishing, boating, flying, and most especially had a great love for music.

He is survived by his daughter, Valerie Hunter and her husband, Michael, of Grand Isle; his sons, Glenn Telford and his wife, Mary Alice, of Clarksville Tenn., and Jerry Telford of Hoosick Falls, N.Y.; his grandchildren, Sara Hunter, Lisa Telford, Jason, Jared and Jordan Telford; his brother, Thomas Parizo; and his wife, Shirley, of North Hero; and many nieces and nephews.

Howard is also survived by his close friend Evelyn Dubuque and her family of North Hero.

He was predeceased by his wife, Joan, in 1990.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, Aug. 30, 2003 at 10 a.m. in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton. Memorials may be made to either the Grand Isle Rescue , P.O. Box 79, Grand Isle, VT or to the Islands in the Sun Senior Citizens, c/o Evelyn Dubuque, 226 Bridge Road, North Hero, VT 05474.

Visiting hours will be Friday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.
