Obituary Condolences

SUNDERLAND -- Howard Beach, 73, of Arlington passed away Dec. 26, 2007, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington.

He was born May 7, 1934, in Mahopac, N.Y., the son of Howard B. and Julia (McGuire) Beach. He married former Eileen Black on July 18, 1964.

Howard was drafted and played with the Philadelphia Phillies organization. He served in the U.S. Army and the New York National Guard. Howard graduated from State University of New York at Oswego with a degree in vocational education.

He started his working career as an auto mechanic followed by employment with “Ma Bell.” He began his teaching career with BOCES in Yorktowne Heights, N.Y. Howard then moved his family to Vermont in 1971 and taught driver’s education and automotive technology at Burr and Burton Seminary in Manchester. He was also the JV baseball coach and assistant football coach.

Howard went to work for the U.S. Postal Service in 1985 as a mail carrier and retired in 2005. Until his death, he also maintained a small engine repair shop.

He is survived by his wife, Eileen, of Sunderland; two sons and daughters-in law; Howard B. and Darri Sue Beach of Sunderland and Charles R. And Heidi Beach of Beaverton, Ore., and his grandchildren, Gunnar, Alexa, and Anabelle of Sunderland and Julia and Conor of Beaverton.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Richard and Matthew Beach.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007, at 10 a.m. at the Brewster Funeral Home, 34 Park Place, Manchester, Vt.

Burial will follow at Ira Allen Cemetery in Sunderland. Friends may call at Brewster Funeral Home on Friday, Dec. 28, from 5-8 p.m. when the family will be in attendance.
