Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Funeral services for Howard James Lackey were held Friday morning, Oct. 12, 2007, at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, 213 West Main St., in Bennington.

The Rev. Jerrod Hugenot, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Bennington, conducted the service. The Rev. Hugenot offered words from scripture and the gospel. The congregation listened to the hymns “The Old Rugged Cross” and “How Great Thou Art.” A time of shared memories and words of remembrance were offered by members of Howard’s family, including granddaughters Korey Lackey, Naomi Peterson, Haley Osgood who read Psalm 121 and Lacey Peterson who read the poem “Footprints In The Sand.”

Interment with full military honors followed in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery where The Rev. Hugenot offered burial rites and committal prayers. Serving as pallbearers were Ben Lackey, Tom Hubbel, Tom Joseph, Tom Watson, Ryan Putnam and Jeff Santarcangelo. The Honor Guard from the Vermont National Guard Green Mountain Division, provided military honors which included the flag presentation to Mrs. Lackey. A time of fellowship and refreshments followed at the First Baptist Church in Bennington.

Mr. Howard James Lackey, a longtime resident of Division Street in Bennington, died peacefully at his home Wednesday morning Oct. 10, 2007.

Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home 213 West Main St., Bennington.
