Howard O. Pickstone 1934-2012 EAST ARLINGTON, VT Howard O. Pickstone, 77, a resident of North Road in East Arlington, passed away Tuesday January 24, 2012 at his home. Howard was born in West Newton, Pa., on September 6, 1934 the son of James F. Pickstone and Thelma Husted. After moving from Pennsylvania to New York, Howard attended schools in Saugerties, N.Y., graduating from Saugerties High School. Upon moving to Vermont in 1961, Howard worked for Mack Molding and then as a truck driver for many years, including driving for Holmes Transportation in Bennington and retiring from Vermont Container Corporation. He also had his plumbing license and worked for Tuttles Plumbing and Heating. Howard was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps., a member of AARP, the Cardiac Group at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, the Sandgate Methodist Church and attended Project Independence. Howard loved riding his motorcycle, loved to shop, enjoyed hunting, fishing, reloading guns and loved his nieces and nephews. Howard is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, the former Leona Peterson of East Arlington whom he married on July 25, 1959, his sister Loretta Downs of Ruby, New York and many nieces, nephews, great grand nieces and great grand nephews, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his brother James Pickstone who died in 1991. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Howard will be held Friday January 27, 2012 at 12 noon at Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home Arlington Chapel Historic Route 7A Arlington, Vermont. Rev. John Sanborn, the Bayada Hospice Chaplain will officiate. Interment will follow in the family lot in Ira Allen Cemetery in Sunderland. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 to 12, one hour prior to the service.
