HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. -- Howard V. “Dee” Shaw, 87, died Wednesday, April 4, 2007, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington. He resided on Rogers Avenue in Hoosick Falls with his wife Florence (Albowicz) Shaw of 58 years.

Dee was born on May 25, 1919, in Albany, N.Y., son of the late V. Briggs and Elizabeth (Anthony) Shaw. He graduated from Hoosick Falls High School and Morrisville College. He was a veteran of the Army serving during World War II and received the rank of Master Sergeant. Dee and his wife Florence owned and operated Dee’s Sunoco Gas Station on the River Road for 30 years. He was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church, a charter member of the Lions Club and a former member of the Elks all in Hoosick Falls. He enjoyed wood burning, his specialty was covered bridges.

Survivors other than his wife Florence include two sons, Dennis Shaw and Mark Shaw both of Hoosick Falls; two granddaughters Deanna Shaw and Rebecca Shaw both of Canyon City, Colo. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a sister and seven brothers.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be offered on Monday, April 9, at 11 a.m. from the Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Burial will follow the service at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hoosick Falls.

There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main street in Hoosick Falls. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sister of St. Joseph of Carondelet through the funeral home.
