Ian H. Sheldon

1972 - 2014 SALEM, NY Ian H. Sheldon, 41, a resident of Smith Road in Salem, passed away unexpectedly May 4, 2014, at his home. Ian was born in Bennington, Vt. on Oct. 11, 1972, the son of William and Genevieve O'Toole Sheldon. He received his education in Arlington, Vt. schools, graduating from Arlington Memorial High School, class of 1991. Ian worked as a materials handler for Mack Molding for over seventeen years. Ian was a wonderful soccer player and was an avid Boston Red Sox baseball fan and Washington Redskin football fan. He enjoyed following MLS Soccer, listening to all kinds of music, gaming, and movies. He loved his pets and cherished times spent with his family. Ian is survived by his parents, Genevieve Sheldon of Arlington, Vt. and William Sheldon and his wife, Dee, of Springfield, Vt.; a brother, Rodney Sheldon and his wife, Pamela, of Springfield, Vt.; a sister, Kate Sheldon and her significant other, Richard Hom, of Manchester, Vt.; his life partner, Megan Goddard and her nephew, who was like a son to Ian, Michael Formwart of Salem; nieces, Chelsea Thompson of Sunderland, Vt. and Shay Mattison of Arlington, Vt.; nephews, Michael Sheldon of Johnson, Vt., Alexander Sheldon of Springfield, Vt., and Kason Goddard of Salem, N.Y. FUNERAL NOTICE: A mass of Christian death and burial will be celebrated Friday, May 9, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Christ Our Savior Parish (St. Paul Roman Catholic Church) in Manchester. Interment will follow in Pawlet Mountain Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Thursday evening, May 8, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hanson-Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home Arlington Chapel Route 7A Arlington, Vermont.
