Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Funeral services for Ida A. LeBlanc were held from St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where the Mass of Resurrection was offered by the Rev. James Doherty, pastor. Assisting on the altar was Mr. Ivon Matte.

A prayer service at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home preceded the mass.

Musical selections offered during the mass by Greg Bird, Merton Snow and Henry Simpatico were “Amazing Grace,” “How Great Thou Art,” “Here I Am Lord,” “Just A Closer Walk With Thee” and “If That Isn’t Love.”

The casket pall was placed on Mrs. LeBlanc’s casket by her daughters Doris LeBlanc, Janet Michaels Haines and her sons-in-law Richard Haines and Michael Devens. Mrs LeBlanc’s grandson, Thomas Purdy, placed a crucifix on the casket. The Old Testament reading was offered by a great-granddaughter Nicki Shearer and the New Testament reading was offered by a granddaughter Lynne Wilson. The homily was offered by Mrs. LeBlanc’s grandson Pastor Jim Michaels. The offertory gifts were presented by a granddaughter Terry Shaw and two great-granddaughters Kelly Harrington and Bailey Michaels. The eulogy was offered by Mrs. LeBlancs daughter Doris.

Serving as pall bearers were a grandson David Michaels and five of Mrs. LeBlanc’s great grandsons, Tylor Purdy, Stephen Purdy, Jonathan Purdy, Sean Michaels and Joshua Michaels. Serving as honorary bearers were members of Saint Anne’s including Doris Bourgeois, Rachel Kinney, Edith LeRay, Marie Ray, Jane Pinsonneault and Theresa Agliere The burial took place in the family lot in Saint John’s Cemetery in North Bennington with Father Doherty offering the committal prayers.

A reception followed the service at the Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church Parish Hall.

Friday evening the rosary was offered by members of both Saint Anne’s Society and the Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Prayer Group, of which Ida was a member.

Mrs Ida A. LeBlanc, 86, a former resident of Corey Lane, Bennington, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007, in Bennington.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
