Ida B. Linihan

1919 - 2010 MANCHESTER CENTER, VT Ida B. Linihan, 90, wife of Kenneth F. Linihan Sr., a former resident of Maple Hill Road, Shaftsbury, and more recently of Equinox Terrace, Manchester Center, died Saturday, March 20, 2010, at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington.

Born in New York City on Dec. 18, 1919, she was the daughter of George E. and Hannah O'Dea Balch. She received her education at the Hollister School and was a 1938 graduate of Burr & Burton Seminary in Manchester.

Mr. and Mrs. Linihan were married on Oct. 2, 1948, at St. Paul's Church in Manchester.

For many years, Mrs. Linihan was employed by the New England Telephone Company in Manchester, where she served as supervisor until the time of her retirement.

A devout member of Christ Our Savior parish in Manchester, Mrs. Linihan was also a member of Court St. Rita, Catholic Daughters of America.

She leaves her husband, Kenneth Linihan, Sr., of Manchester Center; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Terry Perkins of Springfield; a son, Kenneth Linihan, Jr., of Rouses Point, N.Y.; two grandsons, Brian and Jeffrey Perkins; a brother, John R. Balch of Manchester Center, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mrs. Linihan was predeceased by eight siblings, Louise Hulett, Mary Johnson, Abbie Smith, Rita Tetreault, Mildred Delaney, William, Edward and Geroge Balch.

FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from Christ Our Savior Church in Manchester on Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place in the family lot in Center Shaftsbury Cemetery.
