BENNINGTON -- Mrs. Irene A. Weber, widow of James H. Weber, a resident of East Road, Bennington, died unexpectedly Sunday, May 16, 2004, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on March 13, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Rosemary (Farrenkopk) Spielamn. She received her early education at catholic schools in Brooklyn and Astoria, N.Y.

Following high school, Mrs. Weber attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst where she received a degree in child development.

Mr. Weber died in 1971.

Mrs. Weber lived in North Adams, Mass. for many years, where she worked in the child care and pre-school development field. She moved to Bennington in 1988.

A devout member of Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales church, Mrs. Weber’s family and religion were her main interests in life. She had been active for several years in the remembrance meal program at her church.

Survivors include two sons, Robert J. Weber of Bennington and Daniel C. Weber of Sayville, L.I., N.Y.; a daughter, Gail Warner of North Adams, Mass.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Rose Carsten, of North Adams,Mass.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Weber was predeceased by three sons, James, Michael and Edward Weber, and a sister, Dorothy Hahn.

Memorial services celebrating the life of Irene A. Weber will be held from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church Friday, May 21, 2004 at 11 a.m. where the liturgy of Christian death and burial will be offered.

At Mrs. Weber’s request there will be no calling hours.
